The week has seen a continuation of the excellent fishing experienced over the opening weekend, with numerous limits being taken from both ponds. On the top pond, Gwyn Davies, Richard Bateman, Jeff Wilson, Ken Bowring and Andy Hofrock all reached the eight-fish limit. Day ticket visitor T. Davies and regular permit holder Shaun Cotterell both landed seven fish while Ken Bowring, Steve Smith and Ray Tucker each caught and released five fish. A four-fish return was made by Colin Jones with Gary Wharton, Dave Howells, Terry O'Connor, John Edwards, Laurie Fry and Adrian Connor all landing three trout. Most catches were made from the Tump, Wood Bank and the Road Bank close to both outlets with Montana patterns, Goldhead Buzzers and the occasional PTN proving the most effective flies. The bottom pond has fished well all the week, with a good number of anglers landing limits. Recently co-opted secretary Dave Slocombe registered two limits on consecutive days, with further eight fish totals being achieved by Dave Howells, Roger Martin, Keith Higgins, Andy Hofrock, Adrian Connor, Mike Brake and Jason Williams. Hugh Davies caught seven good fish with Shaun Cotterell adding a further six trout to his earlier top pond catch. Five-fish returns were recorded by John Eynon, Alan Rees and Terry O'Connor. Kevin Pinkney and Ian Wootton each caught four rainbows with a three-fish catch being made by Brian Wareham, Colin Jones, Dean Connelly, Del Haines and Roy Mealing. A brace of trout went to Alun Paul, Phil Harper, Nigel Burge, Mike Porteus, Richie Young, Steve Thomas and day ticket visitor D. Kane. Early season boat anglers also finding fish included Craig Bowles with a limit while fishing with Dave Smith who also found fish. Ken Pascoe boated three rainbows. Catches on the bottom pond have included a small number of blue trout. Successful flies on the bottom pond again included Montanas, Blobs, PTNs, Damsels and Goldhead Buzzers. Both reservoirs are due to receive further stockings which should see further good fishing over the coming week.
Weekend on the top pond saw Adrian Moyse and Terry O'Connor both land eight fish, while Ken Bowring totalled 12 trout over two weekend visits A six-fish return was made by Phil Harper and Colin Jones. John Eynon landed five rainbows with N. Curtis and Association president Martin Williams catching four fish. Rob Watkins and Chris Daniel each landed three fish with permit holders Steve Kean and Geoff Evans plus day ticket holders Dean Morgan, Roy Jones and Mike Davies each catching a brace. The majority of catches were made from the Wood Bank with Bloodworm patterns and weighted Buzzers taking most fish. On the bottom pond the number of limits taken has continued. Ken Bowring and Keith Higgins each landed eight fish over two days with Dave Howells, Martin Williams, Adrian Moyse, Alan Rees, Steve Snape and Adrian Connor all reaching the limit over one session. Shaun Cotterell caught 12 fish over two visits, with a day's five-fish return being recorded by Kevin Pinkney, W. Jones , Colin Jones and day ticket holder Dean Morgan. Amongst other members fishing on day tickets Gareth West, Bob Bradley and D. Stowell each caught four rainbows, while Eddie Ricci caught and returned three trout, as did day ticket visitor Mark Waters. A brace of rainbows were caught by Dean Connelly, Rob Bull, Paul Ellsworthy, Mike Pitt and Alan Powell. The bank stretch from the boat moorings to the bush saw most fish taken, with small Black Goldhead Buzzers and Damsel Nymphs proving the more effective flies. Regular boat fisherman Ken Pascoe enjoyed a good morning session taking a limit midway between Pear Tree Bank and the Bush.
