Wales Troutmasters reports for week-ending December 18th, 2015

Cwm Hedd Lakes, Gwent
A quiet week overall, although a glorious Wednesday brought a good number of anglers out to enjoy some very good fishing. The Apps’ Bloodworm was the fly of the day, bringing success to Keith Higgins, Gerald Williams, Bernie Davies, Roger Andrews and Steve Wakeham. Keith Higgins and Stewart Gordon each took one and returned seven. Bill Williams was on good form too, bringing four fish to the net. Craig Williams made a great start to his day, taking a fish on his first cast while a black and yellow lure used on a floating line brought another four fish throughout the day. Matt and Callum Russell landed 15 fish over the weekend, with a few more giving Matt the slip. Lee Ashcroft and Luke Thomas landed seven fish each over the weekend, both using the bung to good effect. Several anglers ventured into the wading area, where plenty of fish were caught.
Toby Merigan, from Funky Fly Tying, brought some festive cheer to the lodge on yet another wet and windy Saturday. Anglers enjoyed perusing the range of great products, and appreciated the fly-tying help and advice. The raffle raised £95 for Welsh Hearts, with the Airflo Super Stik rod donated by Kieron Jenkins being won by a delighted Phil Roe.
