Packington Trout Fishery, Warwickshire
Last week 49 rods caught 107 fish for an average of 2.18 fish per rod. It was a more difficult week with Cocks Close and Park Meadow being frozen over for a couple of days as well. The biggest fish of the week was a 9lb 10oz rainbow caught by Ian Reeve of Rugby. He was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and this was the best of an eight-fish catch, all caught on a Cat’s Whisker fished on a sinking line. Ian’s son Richard went over to the Park Meadow pool and caught nine fish including a 4lb 8oz brown, which was safely returned. All of these were caught on a Cat’s Whisker pattern. Mr G. Hill of Redditch had a 7lb rainbow in his limit of five fish while fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and these came to a Damsel Nymph. Mr P. Cooper of Burntwood caught five fish to 4lb 6oz using a black lure from the bank of Cocks Close. The best patterns have been Cat’s Whisker, Black Tadpole, Goldhead Damsel, Diawl Bach, Minkies and Woolly Buggers. The best areas have been the lodge corner and the old boat jetty corner on Cocks Close and the far side from the boat jetty on Park Meadow.
