Swanswater Fishery, Stirlingshire
It was a mixed week, weather-wise, with some mild days and some frosty ones. The water temperature dropped back down to 3oC and the fish were generally deeper than the previous week, mostly around three to four feet down in Swanswater, although still in the top couple of feet in the Meadow Pond. The island and the boats continue to be the best areas to fish although the dam is also productive. Lures such as Cat’s Whisker, Dancer, Ally McCoist, Blobs and other Fritz patterns were the favourite this week with Buzzers, Bloodworm, Cormorant, and Damsel also taking fish. The Meadow Pond continues to fish well and is a popular venue when things are getting a bit tough on the main pond. The Fishery is still open every day from 8.am to 4.30pm.
Danny Doherty, from Denny, caught five fish for 19lb 8oz including a 9lb 8oz rainbow; Ian Whitelaw, Dunipace, five for 11lb, plus three caught and released; Derek Russell, Bathgate, five for 10lb 12oz from the Meadow Pond, plus five caught and released; Frank Barr, Falkirk, four for 10lb; Billy Weir, Bannockburn, and Tommy Wilson, Alexandria, each had three for 8lb; Ricky Goodwin, Larbert, three for 7lb 8oz; Alan Burke, Falkirk, three for 6lb 12oz; Francisco Gonzales, two for 5lb; Alec Peachey, Hamilton, a 4lb 8oz rainbow; Alex Knox, Glasgow, a 4lb 8oz rainbow; Heather Johnstone, Neilston, a 3lb gold from the Meadow Pond; Charles Kirk caught and released six fish; Mark Hopkins caught and released five.
