SCOTLAND TROUTMASTERS REPORTS FOR WEEK-ENDING NOVEMBER 30TH, 2018

Swanswater Fishery, Stirlingshire
The weather turned a bit colder this week and the water temperature dropped from 8C to 5.5C. Fewer anglers ventured out but most of those who fished were very well rewarded. The water is exceptionally clear and not only were the golds visible swimming around but also some rainbows could be seen cruising. Most fish were taken in the top 3 feet of the water and were mainly attracted by lures with a few taking nymphs or wet flies. Favourite patterns included White Humungus, Cat’s Whisker, Dancer, Damsel, Diawl Bach, Black Nymph and Black Spider. A moderate retrieve was working well and both golds and rain-bows could be seen following flies in to the edge, even if they weren’t taking. Once again, the fish moved with the changes in water tempera-ture with the area around the big tree and the jetty, the far bay and the island all being popular at different times. Those fishing in boats also did well this week. The Fishery is now open 8am to 4pm every day.
